MKL’s 1980 Puch Newport (February 2022 – Current)

This 1980 Puch Newport was acquired as a dilapidated non-runner in December 2020, and treated to a complete refurb. The image gallery below details the build step by step, from broken down junk into the Ara Blue Pearl ripper you see today! I want to thank the following folks who assisted me with the work:

The Puch's E50 is in a sad state of affairs. 12-27-20

1980 Puch Newport Maintenance Log

February 24, 2022 – The Newport arrives after some final work and tuning at NYC Mopeds. A full wiring harness with switches, Powerdynamo 12VDC 100W CDI, Trail Tech Vapor gauge cluster, Wellgo pedals, and stock tail light were installed there. See picture gallery above for build details. Current specs:

Bottom End: Rito Aluminum Stuffed Crank
Top End: Airsal 72cc
Carb: Dell’Orto PHVA 17.5 w/ Main #112, Idle #42, Needle 4th Clip From Top, Idle Screw 4.5 Turns Out (180 degree turns)
Intake: Crank Pipes custom 18mm
Ignition: Powerdynamo 12 VDC 100W CDI
Timing: 1.2mm BTDC
Exhaust: Crank Pipes 89mm Sidebleed
Gauges: Trail Tech Vapor
Rear Suspension: Egoboost Dual Spring Rate 310mm
Front Forks: EBR Racing
